Rights Respecting School
East Preston Infant School is a Rights Respecting School and we are proud to hold Gold accreditation. All pupils, staff and visitors have the right to be healthy, safe, educated, listened to and treated fairly. These principles are at the heart of our school ethos, and our policies and practices support these rights. We are committed to equal rights, mutual respect and shared responsibility.

A Right to be Listened To
Children at East Preston Infant School are listened to in circle time and through The School Council.
Try to have a discussion with your child at the end of each day and really listen to what they say. For example you could ask them:
- What did you learn at school today?
- What games did you play in the playground?
- Who are your friends at school?
- What would you like to do this weekend?
- Tell me about the story you are reading.

Paddington Project
We are linking up with Paddington Bear at East Preston Infant School!
Paddington is travelling around the world, visiting different countries. In each place he learns about the lives of children who live there and we receive a postcard telling us about each visit.
We then link the information he gives us to ‘the rights of a child’ and we talk about a child’s right to be happy, healthy and safe.
